South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center Announces Summer and Fall 2022 Performances

With programming including world-class dance, world music, special holiday events, and family-friendly shows, the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) is pleased to announce its summer season and… fall 2022. It all starts in July with performances such as Miami’s Dimensions Dance Theater’s highly anticipated return to ‘Modern Masters’ on July 16-17; the jazz sounds of Aaron Lebos Abstract Citizen also on July 16; and a stunning tribute to Selena by Los Chicos Del 512 on July 23.

“SMDCAC is proud to present a diverse lineup of captivating performances that appeal to all audiences, and our summer and fall lineup continues our tradition of offering something for everyone,” said Eric Fliss, General Manager of SMDCAC.

“Our goal is to provide excellent programming and arts opportunities for everyone who lives, works and plays in South Miami-Dade.”

SMDCAC hosts Miami’s best party, Backyard Bash VIII, a free annual celebration of culture and music that takes place on the Center Lawn in October. Backyard Bash features two stellar “soft rock” bands, one of the most commercially successful genres of the mid-1970s to mid-1980s.

  • The Pablo Cruise Band plays hits such as “Love Will Find a Way” and “Whatcha Gonna Do,” along with other numbers that rocked the Billboard top 100.
  • Country-rock sensation Pure Prairie League, whose hit “Amie” became a Billboard Top 40 hit, and whose music paved the way for country rockers like Keith Urban, Nickel Creek, and more, will also occur.

Also this fall, patrons are invited to celebrate the cultural richness of music and dance with shows such as Volver by Tango Lovers; and Farruquito, live from Spain – a breathtaking flamenco show performed by a legendary performer from one of the greatest lineages of gypsy flamenco.

And, of course, Miami’s all-time favorite Seraphic Fire Christmas returns for its 30th season this December in what promises to be a joyous celebration of the holiday season.

Engage with arts and culture

“We look forward to seeing our community return to live performances and engage in arts and cultural activities,” Fliss added. “With flexible subscription packages available, we plan to welcome families back again and again throughout the season.”

When arts and culture enthusiasts create their own membership package, they get access to the best seats and can save up to 20%. Dance lovers can also subscribe to the dance package, which includes four dance performances and a 25% discount. Eligible performances are listed below.

To build a subscription package or purchase tickets, the SMDCAC box office is open in person Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
