Shark Shack at Torrey Pines, Philippine Cultural Arts Festival

Come together to experience Filipino culture through dance and music, sample Filipino delicacies and support local vendors.

Shark Shack in Torrey Pines

CSULB hosts a Shark Lab for families with children at Torrey Pines State Beach.

Presented by California State University, Long Beach. The school’s lab hosts weekly “shark huts” on Southern California beaches to help increase the appreciation of sharks by educating the public about sharks and other marine life. There will be a treasure hunt on the beach for the children.

When: Saturday, August 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Philippines Cultural Arts Festival

The one-day event showcases traditional performing arts and folk dances from different regions of the Philippines. folk songs, roundla strings, angklung (bamboo percussion instrument) and kulintang (gong) music from the southern Philippines. Review traditional and native Filipino clothing. Mainstream entertainment presentations, such as contemporary dances and vocals, ethnic dances by visiting Asian and Pacific Islander performers, and martial arts exhibits, will be featured.

When: Sunday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Balboa Park Activity Center, 2145 Park Boulevard, Balboa Park.
